You said earlier this year that you had not discontinued your whole wheat pita bread. Why is it therefore no longer available on Amazon and hasn’t been for sometime?
Thank you.
Thanks for your question. There’s been issues with some of our listings and we’re working with Amazon to straighten it out. Please click here ot purchase Whole Wheat Pita on Amazon.
Thank you for your prompt response and I’m very happy to see that the Amazon link to purchase your whole wheat pita bread works! Thank you.
have you recently changed your ingrediants for the white pita bread to include citric acid? If so, when did you add it (date)? Asking since we have a parishioner in our church that is allergic to citrus.
thank you
Hello Susan, thanks for your question.
Citric acid has been an ingredient in our Classic White Pita for many years. However, as we continuously look for ways to improve value, flavor and even longevity of our products, we sometimes adjust our recipes. For a brief time in the last half of 2022, our Classic White Pita did not include citric acid. Our latest recipe does not include citric acid, so please keep an eye out at your grocer’s deli section for this update. Always check the physical packaging for the most up-to-date nutritional information.
Please feel free to comment further with any questions you may have.
Thank you. Please keep citric acid out of keto pita bread. I live in montgomery County, md. Where can I purchase your keto pita bread.
Toufayan Keto Pita is not yet available in Montgomery Co., Maryland. You can use our store finder to find Toufayan Keto products near you. They are available on Amazon as well (remember, you can freeze unopened packages for up to 8 months).
Are Whole Wheat pitas discontinued? Can’t find them any more.
Hi Ann,
We have not discontinued Whole Wheat Pita. Please use our store finder to look for Pita near you. If none of your local grocers are stocking the variety, please fill out the form presented by the store finder, but it is most effective yo just ask your store’s manager to keep stocking Toufayan Whole Wheat Pita. You can also buy a 3 pack on Amazon (if that’s too many for you, remember, you cna freeze unopened packs for up to 8 months).
I’m seeing the whole wheat pita in 2 versions. I was buying the one with just ww flour, water , wheat gluten , yeast , cultured wheat flour , sugar , Citric acid.
The other one that looks identical has a lot more ( unappetizing) ingredients.
Is the simpler one still available?
Ty
Hello Katherine, thanks for your comment.
We’re sorry to say that our All Natural Whole Wheat Pita are no longer available. We found that the older recipe made for a much stiffer, less pliable pita. The new recipe yields a softer pita with a longer shelf life. If you’re interested in products with even less ingredients, please consider our non-GMO Tandoori Flatbread,.
Are the classic white pitas non-gmo?
If not, which pitas are?
Thanks so much!
Hello Wendy, thanks for your question. Currently, none of our Pitas are non-GMO. Toufayan Tandoori Flatbread and Garlic Tandoori Flatbread are both non-GMO.
Hi sorry just one question. Is this bread has any insecte flour. Thank you so much.
Hello. Toufayan Pita Bread is not made with insect flour. You can find all the nutritional information here.
Hello! My daughter has a severe allergy to soy. My understanding is that yeast can be fed using soy or beer sugar. I’m so happy to hear your pitas are produced in a soy free facility! Can you please confirm how the yeast in your pitas is fed, please?
Thank you!
Thanks for your question, Hannah. The yeast is developed in a growth medium of molasses (or other sugar sources). There is no soy present in the yeast we use.
However, our Pita’s are NOT produced in a soy free facility. We don’t have soy on the pita line but it is present on other lines in the plant. Always check the physical packaging for the most up to date allergen warnings, ingredients and nutritional information.
Thanks so much for the fast and thorough response. Much respect for your communication practices.
You are most welcome! Please feel free to comment further if you have any other questions.

Is the sugar used in your pitas (particularly the whole wheat pitas) made using bone char? I’m just concerned with antibiotic residues from such a source because of a medical condition.
Hello James, thanks for your question. Toufayan Pitas are naturally vegan. No animal products used. Enjoy!
This is not an answer to my question, it reads like a tactical dodge, something a person with my medical history cannot afford. Please answer directly. Do you or do you not use sugar that has been filtered via bone char? If you cannot bring yourself to report that you do not- I have to assume that you are using bone char and cannot buy your products.
Thank You.
We didn’t mean to cause any confusion, and we’d like to be transparent about our processes. Please be assured that no bone char is included in the ingredients or in the manufacturing process of our Pitas. Download the official statement: bone-char.pdf
Hello,
We manage multiple allergies, including g dairy, tree nut, and peanuts, and sesame. We have enjoyed your wheat pita for years now. Has their been a change to recipe or manufacture we should be aware of?
Thanks for your question. Our pita recipe has not changed. However, a new regulation requires that products must be labeled with any allergens that are processed in the same facility. We have added “sesame” to our pita packaging because sesame seeds are processed in the facility that also processes pita. Our pita recipe does not include any sesame and has not changed in recent years. Please feel free to comment further if you have any other questions.
Hello.
I just purchased a package of your pita bread expecting the same lovely pita that opens nicely to make falafel pockets. Unfortunately, these did not open properly, not a single one. I was left with bits and pieces and nothing to put my falafel and fillings in. I don’t know if this has happened to others or if this package is a one off. Disappointed.
Thanks for sharing your experience and your feedback.
We’re sorry you’re disappointed with our pita and its pocket. Everyone has different preferences and uses for their pita. Slightly warm pita are easier to open – we recommend a few seconds in the microwave, or a couple of minutes in the toaster oven to warm them up. If it’s an easy pocket you’re looking for, we suggest trying our Smart Pockets (Smart Pockets near you | Smart Pockets on Amazon).
Are any of your flat breads or pita breads GMO free?
Where are the Organic pita breads, we no longer find them in Publix
Toufayan Tandoori Flatbreads are certified Non-GMO.
I’m sorry to say that Organic Pita Bread has been discontinued, however, we continue to produce Organic Wraps.
Did you stop making the organic whole grain pitas? Bought them at Publix for the longest time and now nowhere to be found……
Sorry, our Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Pita is no longer available. We continue to produce Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Wraps and Whole Wheat Pita.
Hello,
Do your “Classic Pitas – White” contain any of the top 8 allergens? Are they manufactured at the same facility as products containing peanut, dairy, fish or ginger?
BTW – love the smart pita pockets. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Thank you.
Toufayan Hearth Baked Pita does not contain, and is not processed in facilities that also process, egg, treenuts, peanut, dairy, shellfish, fish or, ginger. Classic White Pita does contain wheat and is processed on equipment that also processes sesame.
Thank you very much for your reply!
What about soy? You left that out. Is it in the facility?
Toufayan Pita Bread does not contain soy and is not processed on equipment that also processes soy. Enjoy!
I can’t find whole wheat pita at Randall’s or Amazon . Did you stop making it?
We continue to produce Whole Wheat Pita, however shipping delays have made the product temporarily unavailable on Amazon. We’ll replenish inventory as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we’ll check with Randall’s about stocking our Whole Wheat Pita in your area, but it is up to each store’s manager to decide which Toufayan products they offer. The most effective way to ensure your favorite variety is available is to ask your grocer about it so they know that it is important to their customers.
Are the wheat pitas made in a plant free of sesame ? We used to eat the organic pita safely as I was told their was not sesame in the facility. They are not for sale any longer in our area.
Our Whole Wheat Pitas are in fact made on equipment that also processes sesame. We are currently working towards removing sesame from our facilities entirely, however, we are not prepared to remove the sesame warning from our allergen statements.
As a side note, Toufayan Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Pitas did not contain any sesame, but that was made in a different facility than other pita breads. We did discontinue organic sprouted pita due to its low popularity versus its high production cost. We do still make Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Wraps.
I think my local Kroger stopped carrying your classic white pita. It is by far the most authentic in every way. We bought 3 bags a week for years. Now I am only able to find the low carb and the pitettes but they are not what we eat. We have tried all other big brands and your classic white pita is the only one we want to eat. Can you tell me where I can find it locally? My zip code is 77381 and I will drive within 20 minutes to get it. Thank you.
Thanks for your comment, Joyce.
We’re sorry you’re no longer able to find Toufayan Hearth Baked Pita in your local grocery store. We encourage you to ask your favorite grocer’s store manager to stock our Pita again.

Hey how much phosphorus is in your whole wheat pita bread? It would help me very much on keeping up with my ckd. THANKS!
Thanks for your question, Roshelle. We checked with our bakers over the weekend. There is no phosphorus in our Whole Wheat Pita Bread. Enjoy! Feel free to comment further if you have any other questions.
Is it safe for someone with sesame allergy? Are there any products with sesame made on the same equipment?
Thanks for your question, Tiffany.
Whole Wheat Pita and Classic White Pita do not contain sesame, however, all Toufayan pita are made on the same equipment that also processes sesame. We are looking into establishing sesame-free facilities. In the meantime, all Toufayan Wraps are free of sesame. If you can’t find Toufayan wraps near you, you can find them on Amazon.
Long-term lover of Classic White Pita Bread. Recently however, I’ve noticed the loaves seem to be getting smaller in diameter. The package still says 6 loaves and 12 oz. Is this my imagination or are the costs of ingredients making loaves smaller to maintain margins. Please don’t because if they’re too small they’re useless. Thanks.
Jack in Old Hickory
Thanks for your feedback, Jack. Some time ago we changed the recipe to provide more sustainable ingredients and a better taste and texture. The change made the bread slightly more dense, effecting the diameter a little, but not the volume. We can assure you the volume has not changed. Feel free to comment further, and let us know which store you shop in.
Thanks for the follow-up. It’s good to know I’m doing something for the environment even if it’s at the expense of my breakfast. I’ll continue to be a satisfied consumer of your bread.
Jack
Are your products made in a peanut-free facility?
Thanks for your comment, Victoria. All of our products are made in peanut-free facilities.
What is the shelf life of your pita breads and wraps, without refrigeration or freezing?
Hello Patrick, thanks for your question.
Toufayn Pita have a shelf life of 5-6 days. Our wraps have a 45 day shelf life, except for Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Wraps which have a 14 day shelf life. Unopened packages can be frozen for up to 8 months, defrost at room temperature. After thawing, products resume their original shelf life.
Sprouts (4402 N Miller Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251) no longer seems to sell your Whole Wheat Pita Bread. The last month or so every time I go to Sprouts there are none and there is no space for them! I am going to check the Albertsons near me but I never saw them there before (your site says they sell them).
Your another company with no way to contact them (forget social media!)! email customer support would be nice.
We’re sorry you can’t find our Whole Wheat Pita Bread near you. Our Store finder uses a system that tracks recent UPC uses, so if a product is listed at a particular store, it is becuase it was recently scanned at that location. Please ask your Sprouts manager to add Toufayan Whole Wheat Pita to their inventory again, or have them contact us directly. You can also check Albertson’s, Safeway and Fry’s in your area.
If you’re not comfortable contacting a representative through our social media channels, feel free to comment further right here (we won’t poublish any personal information).
Hi…I have been buying your Organic Whole Wheat Pita Loaves for years at Sprouts, Santa Fe, NM. The past few months they are never in stock. Nor are your Non-organic Whole Wheat pita loaves. I miss them. Is there a problem with Sprouts?
Tom
Hi Tom,
Please check our store finder for Pitas near you. I see they have been selling some in Sprouts Farmers Markets and Smiths Food and Drug in the Santa Fe area. As for the Organic Sprouted Wholw Wheat Pita, we’re sorry to say that this product has been discountinued.
I bought a bag of your carmelized onion pita chips at my local Publix store. However, they were not there the next week and I cannot find them anywhere including on your website. These are the most delicious pita chips I have ever eaten. Do you plan to bake them again. I live in Ocala, FL. I wish they were sold online if you are not going to put them in stores. Thank you.
Hi Kathy, we’re sorry to say that we no longer make pita chips and have no plans to produce them again. We’re always looking to create new recipes and improve our products, so check back to see what we’re baking next.
Hi! I was curious whether your maltodextrin was produced from corn or another source?
Thank you!
Hello Gretchen, thanks for your question.
The maltodextrin is from corn.
I really like these ww pitas. They are 100% whole wheat and have no oil. While they are nice soft, I like them best split, cut in wedges, and baked at 350 degrees until golden and crispy. These are a BIG hit at the whole-food, plant-based classes I teach in our community. We eat them with pico de gallo or anything that might need a chip for dipping. These are so much healthier than any chip that has oil. We’ve been fans of these for years, but especially now that we prefer a very low/no oil diet. Thank you for a great product at a reasonable price.
Hello, so sorry to bother you but I was wondering if your pitas are made in a nut and soy free facility (we have family with severe allergies). Thank you!
Thanks for your interest Colleen. Our pitas are made in a nut-free facility and on soy a free line. You can enjoy Toufayan Hearth Baked Pita in good health! In fact, most of our products are free of soy, milk, egg, tree nuts and peanuts. However, some products may contain seeds such as sesame seed or poppy seed. Click here to find detailed nutritional information and any allergen warnings for each variety of Pita – while we strive to maintain the details on this website, always check the packaging panel for the most up to date information.
Can you please confirm the white pita is pre sliced in the middle. Thank you!
Our Hearth Baked Pitas are not pre-sliced, they have pockets inside. It’s easier to open them after you heat them up (a few seconds in the microwave, toaster oven or in a frying pan with butter or oil will heat them nicely).
Hi, i purchased health baked pita yesterday for gyro.
I put them in the oven preheated 350°F for 5 mins and they looked good, but after another 5 minutes they hardened sadly.
Do you have any recommendation how to warm pita before serving on oven and microwave?
Hello Mayu and thanks for your question.
Toufayan Hearth Baked Pitas are ready to eat right out of the bag, so if you want to heat them up you only need a few minutes in the oven. Warm them for 3-5 minutes in a 350°F oven. In the toaster oven, only 2-3 minutes is enough. In either case, remove them while they’re still soft, so keep a close watch as they warm up.
I just want to say that I have never been a very big fan of bread but since I discovered your sweet onion pita bread I am an addict lol. It is so good! Now it’s my morning go-to for cheese toast most days. And I love the way it freezes. Great product! Thank you!
How can I read the expiration date??????
Hi Okom,
The date code is applied by your store manager. Toufayan Pita have a 5-6 day shelf life. Please check with your grocer.
Are your products GMO?
Thanks for your question Luanne,
We strive to select only the best, most wholesome ingredients for our recipes and we care about the enviornment and sustainability. Our Tandoori Flatbreads are Non-GMO.
Are any of your smart pockets vegan? thank you in advance.

Is pita bread savory garlic vegan?
Unfortunately, our Hearth Baked Savory Garlic Pita will no longer be available in stores. However, this flavor as well as our other pita varieties (Classic White, Low Carb, Multi-Grain, Sweet Onion and Whole Wheat) are all naturally vegan. Our Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Pita contains honey, so it is not considered vegan.
Please comment further if you have any other questions.

I reheated my pita bread and it became very stiff. Any recommendations to prevent this?
Hello Sal, thank you for sharing your experience with us.
When we warm up pita bread at home, we usually just put them in the microwave for about 20 seconds. This should make them more pliable. If you find them stiffer, maybe your microwave can do the same in ten seconds! If you want to bake, toast or fry breads to make them softer, you should check them often because the warmth increases pliability but it quickly starts to harden as the moisture is cooked off. Also, you shouldn’t store them in the fridge, as this can cause them to harden as they lose moisture through condensation. Store unopened packages out of direct sunlight at room temperature, or in the freezer for up to 8 months. Thaw frozen pita at room temperature for a few hours.
The Pita does NOT open up, but instead rips apart. Unless for making sandwiches.
Last time I’ll buy this product.
We’re sorry you’ve had a difficult experience with our Hearth Baked Pitas. We recommend warming up pita bread in the microwave for a few seconds to make them easier to open. Adding heat to most breads will increase pliability as well, and brings out the flavors. Please comment further if you have any questions.
Do you sell the pita bread directly? We’ve only found one store near us who sells it and sometimes it’s not available.
Hi Toni,
You can purchase our Pita Bread on Amazon. Only 3 packs are available for sale online, however, you can freeze unopened packages for up to 8 months. After defrost, Our Pita Breads have a shelf life of 7-9 days.
Feel free to respond with any questions or comments.
Can we order online? What is the minimum order?
You can order our Pita bread on Amazon, currently available flavors include Multigrain, Onion, White and Whole Wheat. They are each sold as a three pack (18 pitas). You can freeze unopened packages for up to 8 months.
Are Toufayan Bakeries Low Carb Pita Bread POCKET pitas???
All of our pitas, including our Low Carb Pitas are pocket pita bread. Warm them up for a few seconds in the microwave to make the pockets open more easily.
I would like to come and buy a case directly from the bakery. Is this possible and where are you located?
Hi Stephanie, thank you for your interest.
Our headquarters are in New Jersey and we have two facilities in Florida. All three locations have factory stores which offer various products by the case. However, due to the current crisis, none of those stores are open to the public. You can find our Hearth Baked Pita Bread on Amazon.
Thx
Does they have toufayan pita white 8 one ounce loaf
I can’t find it in Florida
I ll buy a case just to find them from any where
Hi, Shehata. Thanks for reaching out. We will have somebody email you with additional information.
Where is the expiration date on the package?
The date code is handled by your grocer. Each grocer or market may use a different method. Some have their distributors print the code on the bags or on the plastic clasp that holds the bag closed, others apply a sticker when they stock the shelves. If the code isn’t readable, we recommend bringing it to the attention of the store manager. Let us know where you purchased our Hearth Baked Pita and we can work with the grocer on their process.
Trying to get the 75 Cent coupon, but it doesn’t seem to want to arrive in my mailbox.
We sent you an email directly, please check your spam folder if you haven’t seen it yet!
Hi!
I had been purchasing your Onion Pita bread at my local Kroger forever it seems. I was told a couple days ago it is no longer available. Did you drop the item or did my local Kroger cease ordering from you?? They have your white and whole wheat pita bread so it isn’t the end of the world 😉
Thanks for your interest, Warren.
We continue to make our Hearth Baked Sweet Onion Pita, you should be able to find it in your local Publix. Please use our where to buy page to look for products near you. Or, click here to find Pita near you. You can also ask your Kroger store manager to add Toufayan Sweet Onion Pita to their inventory again, or ask them to contact us directly.
Hi, what is the shelf life of this products in the refrigerator or in the storage?
The shelf life for our Hearth Baked Pita bread is 5 to 6 days. Refrigeration can increase the shelf life by 3–5 days. Before refrigerating, make sure the pitas are sealed well to prevent drying and that there’s no visible moisture in the packaging. Frozen pita may last up to 6 months.
Do you still bake Pita Oat? That is our favorite and we do not find it anywhere here in
Boca Raton and Delray Beach area.
Hi Sini,
Thank you for your interest. Right now, we’re not baking any Oat Bran Pita Bread. However, we are considering bringing the flavor back. We’ll take your question as a vote for it! Meanwhile, we recommend you try Multigrain Pita, which are available in Publix Super Markets near you.
